Adding & removing threads

Normally you start a new weaving project with a pattern and need to expand it to a full project. A pattern may have, say, 16 by 16 threads, and your project will end up with 320 by 1600 threads.

Or, alternatively, you've planned the whole project and started with a large number of threads just to find out, after replicating patterns and colors, that you forgot to include salvage threads.

BW will allow you to add to and remove threads from your project anytime you need to.

Editing threads

To add/remove threads, click menu Edit/Weaving threads and choose the appropriate area: Warp... or Weft...

BW will open the threads dialog:

The threads dialog

Select the desired operation (Insert or Remove) and inform the quantity of threads to insert or remove.

Next, click one of the four option buttons to tell BW where you want the threads to be inserted or removed:

1) Right: to insert or remove threads at the end of the warp.

2) Left: to insert or remove threads at the beginning of the warp.

3) Right of selection: to insert or remove threads in the middle of the warp, immediately after the end of the selection.

4) Left of selection: to insert or remove threads in the middle of the warp, immediately before the beginning of the selection.

Finally, during an insert operation, you may want to copy the selection (warp colors and threading cells) into the new inserted threads. To do so, check Copy selection while inserting.

Then click the OK button to execute the operation.

Notes

a) The topic and the dialog figure refer to warp threads, but the same is valid for weft threads, except that instead of Right, Left, etc... you'll see Top, Bottom, Above selection and Below selection.

b) The selection may be a single cell or a pair of cells. If there´s no selection, BW will disable the Right of selection and Left of selection options.

c) The selection being copied and the threads being inserted do not have to be contiguous. BW will let you, for example, copy a selection located in the middle of the weaving into threads being inserted at its end.
